About The Teacher

Venerable Bhante DhammaKusala is an enthusiastic young forest monk, dedicated mindfulness and meditation practitioner, and experienced spiritual teacher from Nissarana Vanaya Forest Monastery, Sri Lanka. He is deeply passionate about guiding both youth and adults to cultivate mindfulness in a simple, practical, and meaningful way.

A devoted disciple of the renowned Chief Abbot of Nissarana Vanaya, Most Venerable Uda Eriyagama Dhammajiva Thero, Venerable DhammaKusala has been shaped by his teacher’s vast knowledge of meditation traditions, encompassing tranquility (samatha), insight (vipassanā), and meditation practices. Inspired by this lineage, he carries forward the living tradition of forest meditation with humility, clarity, and wisdom.

He plays a vital role in the International Component of the Mindfulness School (Sati Pasala Foundation), an initiative founded by Venerable Dhammajiva that now extends to Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, Dubai, the USA, Canada, and Sri Lanka. With the cooperation of the Ministry of Education in Sri Lanka, Sati Pasala has been successfully incorporated into the national public school system, making mindfulness accessible to children and educators across the country.

Before entering the monastic path, Venerable DhammaKusala graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from the University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka. He worked in the corporate sector for six years as a Sales Manager for a leading global manufacturer. His professional career honed his leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills—qualities that now enrich his work as a spiritual teacher and mentor.

As a layperson, he enjoyed traveling, exploring cultures, swimming, photography, hiking, and immersing himself in nature. His lifelong curiosity and quest for truth gradually led him to a spiritual awakening in his late twenties, after which he renounced lay life and entered seclusion as a forest monk, dedicating himself fully to meditation. Since then, he has lived as a forest monk and spiritual teacher, sharing the Dhamma with sincerity and insight.
